This was no great romance. It was nothing more than a quick bunk-up behind the bike sheds, and as Pat put it, Carol put it about quite frequently and indiscriminately, even as a fourteen year-old.
I think the defining word for her would be "slag."
Another fact established is David's predeliction towards much younger women, including his own daughter.
Fact: Carol and David were only a one-off association as teenagers, Carol was the local mattress, and David spent the bulk of his young adult years believing Carol had aborted the baby they made.
