I am no fan of Dennis or the child actor who plays him, but if I were on the production staff of the BBC, I'd be having a word in the shell-like of the obviously adolescently-minded moron who maintains their Facebook and Twitter pages.
Encouraging comments on the latest Denny-misbehaves storyline, the number of posts/comments/tweets about wanting the child to be slapped, drop-kicked or even beaten is horrifying. Yes, I know it's fiction, but in a week when two women were justifiably sentenced to life imprisonment for the starvation and beating to deaths of two young children, it's not exactly in the best of taste.
It's also irresponsible.
Reading some of the comments from people who obviously have no real common sense is terrifying when you think that someday these people will be parents themselves. I shudder to think how they might achieve their much-desired five minutes of infamy from reading their comments regarding how they'd blithely smack or beat a child for misbehaving, rather than studying the reasons behind his behaviour and seeking to rectify them.
EastEnders should be ashamed.

Well said, thank you!
