On the Inside Soap spoiler news that Alfie dumps Slut Slutter for Roxy, vaslav37 opines:-
No, she shouldn't. Kat should go. End of. The character has been ruined via a variety of reasons - bad writing and a lack of understanding of the character by sub-standard writers, and bad acting on the part of the actress. You could point to the former being the catalyst of the latter, but I honestly believe that Jessie Wallace never really would have re-captured Kat's spirit even if Tony Jordan and Sarah Phelps were still on hand, as writers, to help her along.
When something isn't broken, you don't fix it; well, EastEnders broke Kat and made her damned near irreparable. Rather than try to fix her, they should just dispense with the character.
If, and that's a big one, Alfie dumps Kat for Roxy, then EastEnders should follow its own prescribed tradition and write Jessie Wallace out entirely. Any remaining on the Square would only result in the ubiquitous "will-they-won't-they" scenario and the set-up of yet another yo-yo couple. Like Max and Tanya. Like Mas and Zainab are becoming.
Besides, Michael's last words as Janine drove away were that he loved her. Janine. Who's coming back. Michael has more than a soupcon of class. Kat doesn't.
But since vaslav 37 has successively lost the War of Sharon's Mother and the Battle of Cora Owning the Vic, he's got to have something else about which to obsess; so he'll begin a campaign for Kat to get with Michael.
Kat belongs only in one place - the gutter, outside Walford.
