This walking piece of wood has been on Lucy's scene five minutes. Ian's taken shit off Lucy since the day she was born. He's taken her lip, her undermining, he's watched Jane and Christian (who had never been parents, themselves) take up for her shittiness. He allowed her to lie to the police about Steven shooting Jane, disposed of a weapon for her, stood by her when she trashed his house, allowed her to smack his face and apologised for smacking her back, lied to his wife about an abortion she had, gave her whatever the hell she requested.
Ian created this monster. Yes, he was a bad parent - as bad as Derek, but in a different way. The difference between the two was that Ian was always there for his children, and Derek wasn't. And if that rag, bone and hank of peroxide hair used her one braincell, she would remember that Ian did choose her over Jane when he lied to Jane about Lucy's abortion. That lie was the nail in the coffin of Ian's marriage to Jane.
How has Joey treated her better in five minutes than Ian ever did? He scammed money from Derek to pay off Ian's debts - which seem to run in the vicinity of 500 quid, because that's all he got from his old man. Oh, yes ... he's fucking her skinny shanks every night.
She thinks he loves her. He doesn't. Thanks to his dick (which is where his brain resides), he's got a free place to live, conveniently close to the sister whom he wishes to control, and his old man, whom he wishes to annoy.
Skinnybitch wants to keep a close eye on the way Derek behaves himself around Carol, because she might see the same behaviour patterns in TadpoleBoy. Derek has an unhealthy obsession with Carol, whom he's walloped when she's dared to defy him. Joey is showing the same sort of behaviour pattern towards Alice. How long before Alice tells him where to shove it and he smacks the shit out of her? Derek beat his wife. How long before Joey starts smacking Lollygag Lucy?
