On Lorraine Newman's tenure and what needs to be done to save EastEnders:-
And on the general state of things:-
I'm not a fan of Lorraine Newman's, but neither am I a fan of the passive-aggressive bully with a fixation on Kat Moon who calls himself Will Slater-Mitchell. He's one of these gobstoppers who's convinced that his almighty opinion is fact. So confident is he that I'd readily suggest he submit his BIB1 in an e-mail, possibly to Kate Harwood (kate.harwood@bbc.co.uk), whereupon I'd be almost certain that Harwood would act immediately on his word.
As Mr Slater-Mitchell does not reside in the area covered by the BBC Licence Fee remit, it has to be assumed that his geographical proximity permits that he view programs gratis for which most of us have to pay. Then he may not be aware of the fact that the licence fee - and by extension, the budget for EastEnders - has been frozen for a fair few years. As much as they might like "an experienced drama producer with fresh ideas", they just might not be able to afford one, so Lorraine was the cheaper option - like the inexperienced and talentless Brat Pack she promotes for beauty's sake. I am sure, however, that Mr Slater-Mitchell is so confident of what is wrong with the programme as to make bald-faced suggestions as to the righting of it, he's perhaps surreptitiously promoting himself for the job.
Others may think, as I do, that the problem lies within the writers' room, whilst a stronger personality at the helm may not be amiss.
As for BIB2, here's something I do know for a fact - if Newman is not doing interviews at the moment, it's because until 30 April instant, she was - shock, horror - having a storylining conference, and until the 9th of May, she's on holiday - probably typically someplace where she can bury her head in the sand.
Haw Willie Wanker ever tried e-mailing the woman?
The danger is the non reaction from the BBC to the current state of the show. The "good feedback" they are getting is nonsense. From who? Digitalspy, WalfordWeb, the media including the Guardian are all universally slating the show. People I know who watched it now don't bother anymore. ITV are thrilled with themselves that both their shows are beating the hell out of the mighty EastEnders. For years, this soap trounced both of theirs put together. The danger here is that they won't react until it is literally life or death. It is in the most appalling state. The ratings are slipping further and further. When Louise Berridge resigned, it was the day after a ratings "low" of 6.5milion. Last night, it fell to 5.5million.It has completely lost its way in every regard. I can see drastic measures being brought in before the year is out. The last time I remember something like this was when Kath Hutchison came in and axed half the cast. Storylines were dropped and rewritten. I can see a time coming where a big storyline will be devised in a bid to get the ratings back. Remember Fairground Disaster? Something along them lines. The first thing that needs to happen is Lorraine Newman removed from her position. She should never have been a permanent solution. That she was temporary at first shows the BBC weren't sure of her. An experienced drama producer with fresh ideas should then be installed. Not someone who has been there for twenty years and is now oblivious to anything that goes on beyond the gates of Elstree.

Is it possible that there are too many chefs at EastEnders?I have to agree, with the show literally in the shitter it is galling to read such nonsense. To even pat themselves on the back for a story that was so woefully handled, that celebrities on twitter were laughing at it. People who have had real life experiences of gangs were watching in disbelief. And the ending just really capped it all off.I'm sure Lorraine Newman is not doing interviews at the moment, only for the official EastEnders blog. In fairness, their online content is aimed at tweens. The OMG TYLER AND JOEY ARE FIT brigade.
