Poetic Licence: The Landlord of the Vic

The Landlady is Kat, Alfie has a criminal record and therefore can't be Landlord so Kat's name is above the door. 

WRONG.

The licencee's sign above the door is in the name of "Alfred W and Kathleen Moon ..."

In autumn 2010, when Michael Moon appeared on the horizon and discovered Kat was pregnant by him, Alfie had just ordered the new sign and had received his licence. Both are licencees.

I know people with criminal records aren't supposed to hold such a licence, but elliecat needs to remember that Kat has a criminal record also.

Kat was in prison. She was arrested for soliciting (basically being a prostitute on a streetcorner), and in the course of her arrest, she smacked a police officer; so she was convicted and imprisoned for common assault.

Kat, like Alfie, has a criminal record.

Kat even referenced this late last winter when she, Big Mo and Alfie coerced Jean into copping the rap for benefits fraud. Why? Kat's words were to the effect that Jean had no previous convictions, but she, Mo and Alfie all "had form". The authorities would go easier with Jean.

Kat and Alfie have criminal records, and they are joint licencees for the Vic.
