What Sharon Isn't

Since Sharon's return has sparked the silly season on Digital Spy, here are a few things you should know about Sharon:-

• If she's been existing on booze-fuelled ONS's for the past few years, it's obvious that that behaviour is in reaction both to the death of her husband and also quite possibly to extended post-natal depression. Sharon was never promiscuous, and people react to grief in different ways for different periods. She's recognised that her behaviour has more to do with loneliness than love, and I think she's trying to change that. If anyone has trouble understanding that, then they're either lacking compassion, ignorant or just an evil old bitch troll (yes, I'm looking at YOU, vald, and your creature catsmeow) ...

• Sharon is not and never has been a tart. She lost her virginity in her late teens to Simon Wicks and was serious enough about him to live with him for several months before he betrayed her with Cindy Beale. The next man with whom she had a relationship (Grant Mitchell), she married. She had an affair with Phil, then was engaged to marry a man named Ross (played by Ann Mitchell's son), then Tom Banks and she married Dennis. ONS's aside since Dennis's death, that's almost chaste for more than two decades. She hasn't willfully broken up a marriage the way Ronnie did or sleep with any old sort just to get up the duff, again like Ronnie did.
• She doesn't make excuses for her actions. She's acknowledged that she's made mistakes and - surprise surprise - she's actually taken responsibility for her actions. She explained to Lucy exactly how she'd made bad judgement calls during the recent years and not once did she whine or moan about how it wasn't her fault.
• Sharon's not into sex for sex's sake and she's definitely not into toyboys. So rule out any interaction with Toad Jr except to tell him where and how to sling his hook.

Anyone who perceives Sharon is worse in character or morality than the deplorable Tanya or the ridiculous Katshit Slater either doesn't get the character of Sharon and/or is most likely the following:-
